Summer at the Schoolhouse

Summer at the Schoolhouse

Registration is full! Please let us know if you would like to be placed on a waiting list.

We are getting excited about our Summer at the Schoolhouse program this year! Once again, we will offer 5 sessions with a maximum class size of 20 students. The program is for students who have finished 1st through 6th grade this Spring. Cost is $70 per child, and $65 for members of the Cedar Falls Historical Society. Registration is first come, first served. The sessions are June 17-21, June 24-28, July 15-19, July 22-26, and July 29-August 2. Class runs from 9:00 am-12:30 pm each day.

Registration opens at 8:00 am on Monday, March 18, and forms will be made available here on our website at that time. You will be able to register online (fillable form and PayPal payment), in person, or by mail.  Please note—there will be an additional fee of $2 per child for all PayPal transactions, including refunds!  Last year, we filled in one week, with 75 of 100 children registered on the first day! If you want a guaranteed spot for your child/ren, sign up right away!

The 2024 exhibit at the Victorian House is called “The Rosenthals: The show must go on!” We will incorporate that topic into our Summer at the Schoolhouse program with the theme “That’s Entertainment!” We will explore the lives of Lew and Mabel Rosenthal, and learn what it was like to be part of the traveling entertainment business—singing, dancing, telling jokes, doing magic tricks, and more. We will also do some interesting science experiments, make fun crafts, and visit the Victorian House Museum. And OF COURSE we will practice writing with ink pens, use slates, play games, and make homemade ice cream, too!
