Archives and Library

Always wondered about that distant relative who lived at the Soldiers' Orphans' Home in Cedar Falls?
Curious about that historic home down the street?  Want to see photographs of early Cedar Falls businesses?

With city directories, probate records, historic photographs, postcards, manuscripts, voice recordings, videos, and family papers, the Cedar Falls Historical Society’s Archives and Library preserves and provides access to a wealth of Cedar Falls history.

Please note: We are updating our library with new shelving and will need to close the archives and library from Friday, July 10 through the end of July. We will not be able to conduct any research requests during this time. We will reopen the archives and library on August 4.

When we are open, you call us at 319-266-5149 or e-mail us to make an appointment to visit our archives. Or, if you cannot visit in person, “ask an archivist” for research assistance.

Begin your research right here with these PDFs of transcribed documents from our archives.
