Kansas City & Independence, Missouri
September 24, 25, and 26
Our three day tour of Kansas City and Independence should take us a week, but we have three days to do it all! We'll keep you busy with historic museums and homes, presidential sites, genealogical research, destination shopping, fine dining and BBQ, and unusual behind-the-scenes tours.
Highlights of the trip will include: the Arabia Steamboat Museum, dedicated to the story of an 1856 sunken steamboat from the Missouri River; the Federal Reserve Money Museum; an underground tour of the Hunt Brothers storage caves; a visit to the National World War I Museum; and a chance to meet President Harry S Truman, himself.
We'll be staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel right in the Country Club Plaza, so you'll have time to shop and to take in some of incredible food on offering in the area. Of course, we'll grab some BBQ at the famous Jack Stack Barbeque, and we'll also dine at the fine Savoy Hotel.
And there's much more in store!
