Making Stone Tools:
Flint Knapping Demonstration & Discussion

Presented by Toby Morrow, Archaeologist and Flint Knapper 

The final program in the "Before William Sturgis..." program series.

Watch as Toby Morrow demonstrates techniques for making flaked stone tools as he describes the materials, tools, and processes involved.

View over a dozen stone points on display in our exhibition--from the Early Paleoindian period through the Late Prehistoric period. Learn about improvements in technology, differences in core materials, and the ways points were used.


 
  
Cemetery Walk

Hear the history of Cedar Falls from those who lived it themselves. This year’s invited speakers will include entrepreneur and dressmaker Sarah Radell, Victorian Home hostess Cornelia Livingston Bryant, industrialist Joseph Clay, educator Malcolm Price, and several others. Come hear them tell their stories graveside. A $3.00 donation is requested.

The 88th Infantry Division in Iowa and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), 1917-1941

Join us for a special Veterans Day presentation by Ward Zischke, Historian, 88th Regional Support Command. Learn about the Organized Reserve and Civilian Conservation Corps in Iowa and the upper Midwest, and see original 1930s Army equipment.



Victorian Christmas Walk

Sunday, December 7, 2:00 – 5:00 pm

Celebrate a Cedar Falls tradition by visiting two historic homes decked out for the holidays. The Victorian Home & Carriage House Museum (308 W 3rd St) and the Cedar Falls Woman’s Club (304 Clay St) will offer seasonal fun and festivities with live music, refreshments, children’s crafts, and more.
